Evaluation of meeting the client's needs

 Evaluation of meeting client needs

My file is being saved in a .mp4 format with lossy compression. This is because the film festival is taking place in Chicago, and the film is being made in the UK. Therefore, I will not be able to give them a physical copy of the film and will have to send it digitally, this means the file I’m sending will have to have the best possible quality whilst also being small enough to be sent across the internet. This is the reason I'm choosing to save my file in the .mp4 format.

Using .mp4 allows for the file to be very small, whilst also retaining most of the quality as the original to the point where it isn’t very noticeable to the untrained eye. This allows for the people who are watching the opening sequence in Chicago to be able to have the same quality image. Not only this, but .mp4 files are very commonly used and globally accepted, therefore if you are putting the file into any website it can easily be placed and not have to worry about compatibility issues as you might with other file types.

The file will be sent via the cloud, this is because the cloud is a very accessible form of sending where people from across the globe are able to access storage from anywhere. This means that the sending process won’t take long as you can have shared files with people, meaning I would simply just have to upload the file onto the cloud and on the other end the client should be able to download it onto their own device and display it at the festival.

Annoted Screen grabs of editing

Annotated Screen grabs of editing

Here, at the very start of the video, I edited it so that a title appears above the hedge, taking up the empty space at the top of the screen. This is so that the audience knows what the title of the movie is and allows them to have an understanding of what is going to happen. Not only this, but by adding an SFX over the span of the title being shown, it connotes that something bad is going to happen with the hedge, and therefore makes the audience question what exactly is going to happen with the hedge, creating enigma codes at the very start which keeps them engaged. Not only this, but the ominous SFX that’s being used is conventional of a thriller movie, as it creates unease for the audience and allows them to become immersed in the movie.

For this part of the editing timeline, I added another ominous SFX to when the ball gets kicked over to the hedge. This is because I want this scene to signify where things start to go wrong in the opening sequence, as the ball rolls over to the hedge the audience gets a sense of dramatic irony as they now know that something is wrong with this hedge, however the actual characters in the audience do not know that something is wrong and therefore makes the audience effectively start to worry for this characters as we now know something pretty major that they do not. This is a conventional aspect of thriller movies as it effectively builds tension for the audience and makes them start double guessing about every decision that’s made in the editing and filming styles.

At this point in the editing timeline, we can see that there is a SFX that has been added once more. This SFX is to represent that Aksanty’s character is slowly growing closer to danger as he walks over to the hedge; this makes the audience slowly start to grow anxiety as they watch the entire opening sequence and makes it so they continue to grow scared.

At this part, we can see that the SFX is cutting in and out as the perspective swaps between Aksanty and Jordan, reflecting how Jordan’s character is entirely in the dark about what may be happening while we can hear the anxiety building up within Aksanty and also reflects how the audience may be feeling at that time as well. This is effectively building even more tension in the audience as the editing is making them double guess everything that is happening. As he grows closer to the hedge they’re wondering what is going to jump out at them and Aksanty as we’re shifted into his perspective.

At the end of the opening sequence, we see that It fades to black and then jumps back into a shot of the ball in the hedge being moved. This connotes to the fact that there is a creature in the hedges and that the audience should be relieved that Aksanty moved away from the hedges. This is conventional of a thriller as it has built enough tension for the rest of the movie and the audience are now away and in fear of the hedges as they know that there Is something inside of them. Therefore allowing the audience to be in a constant state of unease while watching any scenes where someone may be near the hedges, which is conventional of a thriller movie.
