The Hedge Script
EXT. PLAYGROUND – DAY
ERIC and JORDYN are kicking a ball back and forth, talking about something that happened in their day.
ERIC
(Out of breath)
And then, after that happened, me and uhh
ERIC Hesitates
I forgot what the guys name was.
ERIC then kicks the ball
JORDYN
(Interrogative)
What did he look like?
JORDYN kicks the ball back
ERIC
(Confused)
Uhhh, I think he had curly hair. Like a bit shorter than me
but like by this much.
ERIC puts his hand up to his shoulder
I think I’ve seen you talking to him before
so you do know who he is.
ERIC Kicks ball back to JORDYN
JORDYN
(Thinking intensely)
Was he mixed, black, Asian, white?
JORDYN kicks ball back to ERIC
ERIC
(Stumbling a bit after having gotten the ball)
Asian, he’s in your History class I think.
ERIC Kicks ball back to JORDYN
JORDYN
(Understanding)
Ohhh you’re talking about um, Ethan.
JORDYN kicks the ball back to ERIC
ERIC
(Satisfied)
Yeah that guy, anyway he was the person who ended up having done it so Miss kept us
all behind even though it was just him who had actually done the prank.
ERIC kicks the ball back to JORDYN
JORDYN
(Agitated)
Dude that's just annoying, I'll be honest I never really liked Ethan, the guys a prick.
JORDYN kicks the ball back but fumbles a bit
Shit. My bad! Get the ball please.
The ball rolls under the hedge
ERIC
(Frustrated)
Oh my days
ERIC goes to try and get the ball from the hedge. But when he bends down to grab it he hears rustling in the hedge and hesitates.
ERIC
(Insulting)
Need to fix your kick before the game I’ll be real.
ERIC Bends down to get the ball
Rustling comes from the bush and ERIC hesitates
JORDYN
(Impatient)
Get the ball!
ERIC
(Annoyed)
Bro wait, I got uhh
ERIC Thinks for a second
A thorn in my hand
JORDYN
(Tested)
Yeah alright, ima go then because my
Mum wants me home.
ERIC looks back at the bush, hesitating whether or not he should grab the ball. Eventually he leaves the ball and starts running back over to JORDYN
ERIC
(Afraid)
Yo! The ball popped come back.
The ball gets grabbed by something in the bush.
(Understanding)
