From this focus group, I am able to get a lot of useful data going toward my end project. First thing that I am able to analyse from their answers is that the main thing I need to look out for in my project is making sure that tension is built. In their answers they said that overall the thing that mostly look for is tension, and if a movie does not have good build up of tension then it can ruin the film for them. Not only this but it also has to have good characters with proper development of the narrative to make the story more interesting. For what they look for in their characters are people who have good development and change throughout the story, as well as good actors to play them as the actual actor can make or break the movie. They said that if the character is too shallow and doesn't have enough development then it can ruin the character as a whole for them and ultimately make the movie a worser experience.
For what they look for in a thriller, they said they would like to have an ending that they cannot guess, something original that they haven't seen before to therefore get a new experience for a movie they are watching. They also say that thriller movies can be scary in the day however they once again related it back to tension and how its built to therefore emphasise the tension in the movie.
Applying it to my production, I'm going to make sure that the movie has a good sense of tension and good characters throughout the movie. I need to make sure that the ending is something interesting and that they cannot guess the ending to give them a new experience while watching the film.
